I am an architect, interior designer and project management consultant having practiced within Kenya and the larger East African region since 2009. I am the founding principal of a boutique architectural firm, Architecture Kenya Design Workshop, based in Nairobi, through which I have designed and overseen construction on a wide range of projects including custom residential design, multi-family residential, retail prototype development, commercial mixed-use design, and renovation.
I currently serve as the Chairman of The Municipality of Mwatate, leading the board that is tasked with the formulation of policy geared towards the efficient running of MWatate urban centre.
I am also a lecturer at the Technical University of Kenya, School of Architecture and Built Environment, where I teach in the graduate design program as a professional practice fellow. This time in the classroom has allowed me to test new ideas, balancing research with practice.
I am the founder and editor of BUILDesign Magazine, the only architectural and construction review magazine in Kenya and within the region. The magazine serves up inside stories on architects, architectural firms, buildings, and a host of opinions on architecture to a community of built environment professionals.
I am also a trained accountant, having fully undergone a Certified Public Accountant of Kenya, CPA(K), course. While I have not practiced as an accountant, the knowledge I gained as an accountant has been crucial in some decisions that I have had to make on projects, giving me an edge on matters of project financing.
When not doing the above, I take up my role as husband to one wife and father of two beautiful girls. I play golf once in a while and spend a lot of time generating content for the magazine, my blog and other platforms through which I share my ideas.
